[A Story] Ch. 3 Ryan in SGW91580

Ryan just arrived in SGW91580 via a jumbo rocket plane along with other 1500 passengers. It only took him 1 hour to travel this 6,000-mile journey. Upon getting to the airport, Ryan was amazed of what he saw. The airport is full of robots assisting the incoming and outgoing passengers. Non-citizens are inserting their passports and bag tags in the slot while undergoing security checks. After a few seconds, passengers will be cleared from the security checks and can immediately get his passport from the slot on the opposite end. On the other hand, citizens just pass thru the security checks without inserting any kind of passports. A few meters away from the security checkpoint are the baggage claim. Ryan was surprised on the way they handle all bags and luggages. All of the luggages have been sorted and grouped according to the passenger by the speedy, small robots. All you can do is to recognize your bags and pick it up. Ryan noticed that some of the bags walk away by itself after he heard snapping of fingers. To his amazement, he curiously asked one of the citizens who just snapped his fingers to call his baggages. Ryan asked: “How come the bags approached you by itself?” The guy answered: “I have a small chip inside my middle finger. If I snap my fingers, a sonic sound will be sent to the bags and decode the identification number of the source. If the bag’s ID number is the same as mine, it will try to find the source by searching the nearby human beings who have the same ID number”. “It is very fascinating. Your country is very advance and wonderful!” Ryan replied.

Ryan proceeds to his hotel. He will be staying for one week in a 3-star hotel. Upon his arrival, he looked up and tried to count how many floors there is. He went to the receptionist. The receptionist asked me to wear a funky sunglass. After some time, a bright light appeared from the sunglass. The receptionist gave me another sunglass but this time it is dark blue, the one before is dark red. At first, he hesitated to wear the dark blue sunglass because his vision becomes blurry. The receptionist told him, it is normal and he should wear the blue sunglass so that his vision will become clearer again. So, he followed the girl’s suggestion and to his surprise, he can see the charming smile of the receptionist again. The girl said: “Your room number is 88-7205. Just look to the two holes in front of the door and it will open for you. Have a pleasant evening sir”.

So, he went to the elevator to go to his room. When he entered the elevator, a recorded voice was played. “Please fasten your elevator belt”. So, Ryan fastens the elevator belts, one for each side, in his body. Then, he pressed the 88 button and an engine-sound was played. Ryan gets scared but he just closed his eyes. In several seconds, the elevator stopped and the voice said, “Flat Number 88”. Ryan removed the belts and search for his room. Just near the elevator, there is a mini-kiosk to search for the rooms. So, Ryan used it and a small compass appeared from the slot. The small compass is talking to the right directions. “Face to your right….go straight …. Turn to the left … go straight…. Turn to the right and stop on the 2nd room”. The compass speaks again, “You have reached room number 88-7205”. Ryan threw the compass in the slot near the door and followed what the receptionist told him to open the door.

The room is very clean but a little bit cozy and narrow. There is only 1 small table, 1 cabinet, 1 small bed tube, 1 small toilet. It is around 25 sq ft. Ryan noticed several buttons in the touch screen monitor. He saw that it is a food menu. He is already hungry so he ordered a pizza. The screen prompted him to enter the size of the pizza, flavor. In 5 seconds, a pizza appeared in the food slot. He also ordered vitamin soda which has similar taste with Pepsi.

Before he sleeps, he was looking outside thru his room’s window. He was thinking what would be his life in the future. Would he able to cope up and adjust accordingly? Would he find the one that he is looking for his life? Would he find happiness? How his life will spin around in the new world?
